Empowering Rural Learners with Digital Skills for the Future

In a groundbreaking move to bridge the digital divide, Legae ICT, in collaboration with Kids Coding Academy, launched an innovative Coding and Robotics Program at Tarlton Primary School in January 2025. This marks the first time learners at the school are receiving structured digital education, and the impact has already been transformative.

Building Future-Ready Skills Through Hands-On Learning

The program specifically targets Grade 7 learners, equipping them with essential skills in coding, robotics, and digital problem-solving. These are not just technical abilities but foundational competencies like critical thinking, computational logic, creativity, and collaboration—skills that are increasingly necessary in today’s technology-driven economy.

Peter, a lead facilitator from Kids Coding Academy, remarked:
“Learning a new subject can be challenging; however, it is going remarkably well with each class we conduct.”

Boosting Engagement and Classroom Discipline

Beyond teaching learners to code, the program has had unexpected benefits in the classroom. Teachers have noted improved classroom behavior, discipline, and learner enthusiasm. With students eager to engage in lessons and explore new technologies, the school atmosphere has become more vibrant and positive.

Principal Themba Griffith Siganagana of Tarlton Primary School noted:
“The program has been wonderfully embraced by the learners, eager to explore new ideas. Moreover, discipline has improved, bridging the gap between educators and learners.”

A Vision for the Future of Rural Education

At Legae ICT, our mission is clear: every child deserves access to quality digital education, regardless of their geographical location. The Tarlton initiative is more than a pilot—it’s a blueprint for how rural schools across South Africa can prepare their learners for future careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Be Part of the Digital Transformation

We believe that education is the key to unlocking Africa’s full potential. This initiative at Tarlton Primary School is just the beginning. With your support, we can expand this program to more schools, impacting more lives.Follow Legae ICT on social media to stay updated on our work and find out how you can get involved.
